Welcome to SECCA's 2024 program Acknowledgement of country Visit us SECCA (South East Centre for contemporary Art) is the newly redeveloped space for art, culture and ideas, located on Diringanj Country in the heart of Bega After a stellar summer delivery, SECCA is thrilled to present its 2024 program which celebrates global movements in contemporary art and celebrates our own acclaimed artists living on country Through our artist conversations series, the launch of our new school holiday programs, and with a range of engagement programs for connection with family and friends, we look forward to welcoming you at SECCA South East Centre for Contemporary Art acknowledges and pays respect to the traditional custodians of the lands, waterways and airspace of the Bega Valley Shine. We acknowledge and honour First Nations people, their deep and enduring connection to the unceded land we are on, and their ongoing contribution to art, culture and stories in contemporary Australia Address Zingel Place, Bega Online secca.com.au Instagram @secca..bega Monday-Friday 10am-5pm Saturdays 10am-2pm Closed Sundays and public holidays Bruno Booth: Body Shots An abundance of caution When 27 April- 23 June 2024 Where SECCA Gallery One Body Shots is a major work by Booth, offering insight into the multidisciplinary practice of a significant Western Australian artist Body Shots is a 4k, nine channel video installation revealing candid views of the disabled body-juxtaposed with familiar landscapes and scenes. These views link across multiple screens, forming new and unusual bodies that float in space, quietly moving and unapologetic in their existence. Body Shots seeks to address disability issues by confronting the audience with the disabled body in extreme detail, forcing them to recognise the beauty created by such unique forms The project has been made pugh the Exton Touring Boost managed by the Department of Local Goverment Sport and Cultural Inde ported by Roya for Regions and delivered by ART ON THE MOVE South East Centre for Contemporary Art Body Bruno Booth 2002 Photography By Dent Grant - FREIGHTIN NSW SECCA by Bege Vale She and supported by the NSW Got through CreaSW THE MOVE Meddon Anundance of 2024 Program Ruth Maddison: An Abundance of Caution When 11 April- 19 June 2024 Where SECCA Chambers Gallery Ruth Maddison lives and works in Eden NSW and is one of Australia's foremost senior feminist photographers. For over 40 years Maddison has explored ideas surrounding relationships working lives, and communities through portraiture and social documentary photography. An entirely self-taught practitioner, she shot her first roll of film in 1976 and has hardly put down a camera since. Maddison's work is represented in major public collections throughout Australia.
